Aerogels

With applications ranging from –196 °C up to +650 °C and a thermal conductivity of approximately 0.018 W/mK, a high level of insulation performance can be achieved with significantly reduced insulation thickness compared with many traditional insulation materials.

The materials are water-repellent, vapour-permeable (breathable), and designed to minimise dust generation.

Aerogel insulation offers superior insulating properties compared with traditional insulation, while also being water-repellent and vapour-permeable. Optimal process temperatures, reduced energy consumption, protection against heat and cold, and prevention of condensation and ice formation can all be achieved through effective thermal insulation.

The product is available in rolls, pre-cut sections, pre-formed pipe sections, or as ready-to-install units in Beerenberg’s All-In-One series with GRP enclosures.

The products are developed to cover a range of applications:

  • Thermal insulation, hot and cold — Oryza Sil 650

  • Acoustic insulation — Oryza Sil 650

  • Fire protection — Oryza HCF

  • Building insulation — Oryza BGT

Applications

Oryza can be used for thermal insulation, acoustic insulation, and fire protection. The product also offers excellent CUI-mitigating properties due to its water-repellent and vapour-permeable characteristics.

Oryza Sil 650 Aerogel is particularly suitable for the following applications:

  • Confined areas with limited space for insulation
  • Areas where energy consumption and CO₂-related costs can be reduced through improved energy efficiency
  • As a CUI-mitigating alternative to traditional insulation materials
  • Where traditional, dust-generating aerogel solutions are to be replaced with a low-dust and more cost-effective aerogel material
  • For fire protection of external building columns
  • As thermal insulation in buildings where reduced insulation thickness is required due to space constraints
