New Initiatives bring new opportunities

Following Altrad’s acquisition of Beerenberg in 2024, the company, together with Linjebygg, has become an even stronger player in the infrastructure market. With extensive expertise from the oil and gas industry, the market opportunities within land-based infrastructure are significant.

– We see a great need for maintenance of bridges, quays, and tunnels. Our experience with complex projects gives us a solid foundation to deliver quality and safety also in land-based infrastructure, says Sveinung Tenold, Project Manager for Bridge Maintenance and Infrastructure.

Quay for the Coast Guard in Sortland

One of the most high-profile projects is the rehabilitation of the quay at the Coast Guard Station in Sortland. The assignment for Forsvarsbygg includes concrete rehabilitation with cathodic protection and replacement of fenders, ensuring good facilities for the operational activities of the Coast Guard in the north. The work started in spring 2024 and, due to several extensions of the delivery scope and further options, will continue until autumn 2026.

Framework agreement with the Norwegian public roads administration
In Eastern Norway, Beerenberg has entered into a framework agreement with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration for the maintenance of bridges in Oslo, Akershus, and Østfold. The agreement spans up to four years and includes replacement of bridge joints, concrete rehabilitation, membrane and asphalt work, as well as underwater groundwork.

These contracts give us an important position in a market with enormous potential and are good examples of how we are now qualified for major assignments in this segment, says Tenold.

Stronger Together

By leveraging synergies between Linjebygg’s offshore concrete rehabilitation operations and Beerenberg’s established infrastructure business, the companies aim to strengthen delivery capacity and competitiveness in both the infrastructure and energy markets.

– This is just the beginning, and the market for infrastructure maintenance offers significant growth opportunities for the group going forward. Our ambition is to develop a business that becomes an important partner for public and private stakeholders seeking to secure the maintenance of future transport routes, emphasizes EVP for Industry, Kjetil Stöckel-Kvamme.

Qualified and recognized

Beerenberg has already delivered on demanding projects such as Tunheim Bridge in Tynset and Storeneset Suspension Bridge in Fjaler. The assignments have included mechanical repair of concrete damage, surface treatment, and replacement of bearings and railings – always with high HSE standards.

– We have qualified in a market with strict requirements and are now ensured participation in future tender processes. This is an important step that confirms our position as a serious and competent supplier. Behind the success stands a well-established and highly qualified site management team with solid experience from complex projects – a team that delivers exemplary results. Feedback from our customers is excellent, and we are recognized for quality, professionalism, and execution capability, concludes Tenold.
